A week from today, I will be making a trip into the jungle with several friends. We are going to San Lorenzo, which is up river from Iquitos. The plan right now is to have an event for about 40-80 children where we will end with giving them some school supplies.
We will be traveling from Iquitos to Nauta first, and then we will travel by boat for a full day to get to San Lorenzo. I have included a map below to show Iquitos (which is circled), and San Lorenzo has the red pin on it. The total distance is 253mi from Iquitos to San Lorenzo.
I am very excited about this trip, because it will be the first time that I am traveling to this part of the jungle. The region we are going to is close to many of the indigenous groups. My friend Yazna, that I am going with, says that this is one of the times in the year that many of those tribes travel to this city to have some of their meetings. We are hopeful that we might get to do an event with them as well, but if not we at least plan on starting contact to return next year and work with them again.
I am also excited, because it is the first time I will be traveling into the jungle in a long time. It is also the first time I will be able to travel and start working with my non-profit "H.O.P.E. for a Brighter Future - Peru". Thanks to some generous donations to "HOPE", we are going to use them now to bless some of the children of San Lorenzo.
Prayers for our trip, and I hope to update you next week on the full plans as we begin to travel!
