Helping

With the time coming closer for my return to Peru in a few weeks, I have been thinking a lot about some of the things I have missed the most. Some are simple things like fresh tropical fruits and hardly ever feeling cold. Other things I have missed have been the people I got to know and work with on a daily basis. I have especially missed the Arimborgo's that I lived with. But I think one of the overarching things I have truly missed the most is simply helping the people of Loreto in any way I possibly could.
I absolutely loved my first two trips where we were out among the people all week long. I loved working with the children and giving out food and other things to the people of the villages. I also loved teaching English for 4 1/2 years at San Marcos. Once I learned enough Spanish to help translate for medical clinics the groups that visit the Arimborgo's did, I really loved being able to help in that way.
Moving forward I am truly so excited to see what opportunities to serve will come up. With covid restrictions I'm not sure how things will work this time. But I do know that I will still be doing whatever I can in any given moment to help those around me.
Have you ever just completely given up a day, a week, a month, or any length of time and simply served others? I believe the longer you serve, the more you want to.
