It is amazing to think that I have been back in Iquitos for a week and a half now. While many things are very different from when I left in 2019, there are so many of the things that I absolutely love about being here that aren't any different at all.

A couple of the kids I live with have asked me in the last couple of days, "Why would you choose to come here to live?" When I started thinking on how to answer, I realized it was a good question. An especially good question since so many of the people in this city only want to leave it and go pretty much anywhere else.

Honestly, there are many things I truly love about being here in Peru. I love not ever being cold. I love the food, mostly because it is all so fresh. I genuinely love the people (especially the family I live with). And I love the overall relaxed way of life compared to the 'hustle and bustle' of life in the USA.

It is true that there are many 1st world comforts I have to give up in my choice to be here. But after being in the US for almost 2 years after my first stint living here, I can honestly say that the pros of being here in Peru far outweigh the things that were given up to do so. :)

What do you love about where you have been called to?
