Thinking

The month of July I was able to spend with my grandpa. It was really nice to be able to spend some more time with him before heading back to Peru soon. This time, I was able to go through some photo albums with him with pictures that I don't ever remember seeing. Many of them were pictures that his mom had of him and his brothers and sister when they were growing up. His sister had them and 'loaned' them to him. It was really cool to go through them with him and hear all of the memories they brought up for him about his family and those times growing up.
The picture below is one of the ones in those books of my grandma and grandpa when they were in high school.

Grandpa said they were studying for some kind of project they had to do for school. I love this picture on several levels. But one of the things I love the most about it is the look of concentration on both of their faces. When I look at old pictures, many times I am amazed to think about what must have been going through those people's heads at that moment. I also like to wonder if they ever imagined or dreamed of all the things that happened to them between that moment in the picture and the present.
Have you ever had the opportunity to just sit with someone and go through pictures while listening to their stories and memories of those times?
